“Ahola”: (Size: 5” by 8”)
Created using copper plate printmaking. I chose zebras as my focal point in an unusual setting of Hawaii with the balloon-like letters spelling, “Aloha,” referencing the clash of nature and tourism. The juxtaposition of the zebras in the setting of Hawaii explores how animal life is displaced due to human intervention. I created a virtual diorama by using photoshop and inserting the zebras and balloons on the Hawaii photo. This print creates a small world feel by placing a picture border in the middle of the photo to enhance the notion of “voyeurism.”
